MLS sets new attendance record with 11 million fans across season

Major League Soccer (MLS) has reached a new milestone with more than 11 million fans attending games this season, surpassing the previous record of 10.9 million set in 2024. On average, MLS has seen 23,240 fans per game, marking the first time the league has crossed the 11 million attendance mark in its history.

One major factor contributing to this increase is the arrival of international stars like Lionel Messi. His presence has often led teams to move their matches to larger stadiums to accommodate the extra demand. In addition, MLS clubs have been working to create more fan-friendly ticket packages and enhance game-day experiences, which has helped attract even more supporters.

MLS highlighted these efforts in a statement, noting that the combination of star players and improved fan engagement has driven the surge in attendance.

With 16 games still left in the regular season, which ends on October 19th, the final attendance numbers could rise even further. This marks the third straight year that MLS has drawn over 10 million fans, showing the league’s growing popularity in the U.S.
