In August 2018, he signed a new contract with Liverpool. He was an unused substitute for the 2019 UEFA Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur. By winning the Champions League, he became the 12th Irish footballer to do so and the first in over ten years.
Even while recovering from wrist surgery, Kelleher was on the bench for Liverpool’s 2019 UEFA Super Cup win against Chelsea in Istanbul because first-choice goalkeeper Alisson was unavailable. He made his competitive debut on 25 September 2019 in an EFL Cup Third Round match against Milton Keynes Dons, keeping a clean sheet in a 2–0 win.
On 1 December 2020, Kelleher started and kept a clean sheet in a 1–0 win over Ajax in the Champions League. Five days later, he started in a Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, again keeping a clean sheet in a 4–0 victory. This was his third clean sheet in a row. At just 22 years and 13 days old, he became the third-youngest Liverpool goalkeeper to keep a Premier League clean sheet and the youngest to do so on his first league start. After several strong performances, manager Jürgen Klopp promoted him to second-choice goalkeeper, behind Alisson and ahead of Adrián. Reports also stated that Liverpool planned to offer him a new long-term contract.
Kelleher signed a new long-term deal with Liverpool on 24 June 2021, lasting until 2026. He said it was a proud moment and an honor to stay with such a big club.

He made his first appearance of the 2022–23 season on 9 November 2022 and saved three penalties in a shoot-out win over Derby County in the EFL Cup. On 1 June 2023, Ireland’s national team manager Stephen Kenny said he expected Kelleher to leave Liverpool due to a lack of playing time. On 27 September, Kelleher played in a 3–1 win against Leicester City in the EFL Cup and wore the captain’s armband for the last 12 minutes after Curtis Jones was substituted. He also started in the 2024 EFL Cup final at Wembley, helping Liverpool beat Chelsea with a clean sheet and key reflex saves. Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal in the 118th minute.
After Alisson was injured in October 2024, Kelleher played several matches, including a Champions League home game against Real Madrid. He saved a penalty from Kylian Mbappé, helping Liverpool win 2–0. This save, along with another against Southampton in the Premier League, made him the first Liverpool goalkeeper to save two consecutive penalties.
During his time at Liverpool, Kelleher kept 24 clean sheets in 67 matches and set club records for the most penalty shoot-out saves (6) and most shoot-out wins (4).
