After signing in 2012, Václav Hladký spent his first year as the second-choice goalkeeper behind Radek Petr. In 2013, he was promoted to first choice and made his debut on the opening day of the 2013–14 season against FK Jablonec, keeping a clean sheet. During his time at the club, Brno’s goalkeeping coach Luboš Přibyl compared him to Czech legend Petr Čech. However, on 18 October 2014, he was sent off in a match against Sparta Prague. In the 2014–15 season, after a few mistakes, he lost his starting spot and eventually fell behind Dušan Melichárek. By the end of the season, Hladký decided he wanted to leave the club.

Slovan Liberec

Hladký joined Slovan Liberec in 2015, where he spent more than two years as a backup goalkeeper—first behind Tomáš Koubek and later behind Martin Dúbravka and Ondřej Kolář. He got a few chances in 2015 and impressed with clean sheets, including one against Sparta Prague and another in the Czech Cup. In spring 2018, he finally got a run of games but was again dropped the following season after the club signed Filip Nguyen.

St Mirren

After falling down the ranks at Liberec, Hladký signed an 18-month contract with Scottish club St Mirren in January 2019. He quickly became a fan favorite. Goalkeeping coach Jamie Langfield praised him, saying he could be the key to keeping the club in the Scottish Premiership. Hladký earned praise for his performances, including being named in the BBC’s team of the week after a draw with Heart of Midlothian.

On 26 May, he played a key role in the play-off final against Dundee United, which ended 1–1. In the penalty shootout, he saved three out of four penalties, helping St Mirren stay in the top division. He dedicated the win to his best friend Josef Šural, who had recently passed away, and thanked his coaches and club staff for their support.

That summer, St Mirren rejected a £200,000 bid from Qarabağ. New manager Jim Goodwin called Hladký the best goalkeeper in the league. In June 2020, he left the club after turning down a new contract.

Salford City

In August 2020, Hladký joined English club Salford City in League Two on a two-year deal. He made an immediate impact by saving a penalty in his debut in the EFL Cup against Rotherham United. After just one season at Salford, Hladký signed a three-year deal with Ipswich Town. His start was tough, and he was replaced by Christian Walton. However, when Walton got injured during pre-season, Hladký took over as the first-choice goalkeeper for the 2023–24 season. His excellent performances helped him keep the starting spot, and he played all 46 league games as Ipswich secured promotion to the Premier League.

On 3 June 2024, Ipswich announced they had offered him a new deal, but on 1 July, it was confirmed that he had left the club after three years.
