Super Eagles caretaker coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has expressed confidence that his team will aim for maximum points in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Libya. Winning both matches would secure the Super Eagles a spot at the AFCON 2025 finals, which will be held in Morocco.
The Super Eagles currently lead Group D with four points from two matches, and Eguavoen is determined to secure qualification early to avoid any last-minute pressure.
“We want to qualify as early as possible by winning these two matches against Libya,” Eguavoen told the NFF’s official website. “By picking up six points, we’ll be almost certain of a place in Morocco, even before Matchday 5. This way, we avoid any anxiety in the later stages of the qualifiers.”
Despite the absence of star striker Victor Osimhen, Eguavoen is confident that the other available forwards will step up. “I admit we will miss Victor, but I believe the other strikers can deliver the goals we need to secure three points at home in Uyo and another three points in Libya,” he added.
These matches are crucial for the Super Eagles as they aim to secure their place in AFCON 2025 and continue their strong form in the qualifiers.
