Lamine Yamal had a quieter game in Barcelona’s recent win against Alaves compared to his usual performances this season. He wasn’t as involved in the game, even though he showed some flashes of skill.
Yamal Reflects on His Performance Against Alaves
After the match, Yamal shared his thoughts about how he played. He admitted he felt frustrated with himself, especially since he was substituted during the game. “I wasn’t happy with my performance against Alaves, and that’s why I was annoyed when I was taken off. I set high standards for myself, and I need to meet those to play at my best,” he explained (Goal).
Even though he was disappointed, Yamal appreciates his coach, Flick. He praised him, saying, “Flick is very close to everyone on the team, whether they play a lot or just a little. He gives us a lot of confidence, and you can see that in how we play.”
Yamal Talks About His Teammates and Fame
Yamal also spoke about his teammates, including superstar Robert Lewandowski. He expressed admiration for Lewandowski’s skill, saying, “Whatever you give him, he scores. We’re really happy for him.”
He touched on his rising fame, especially after Euro 2024. “Since the Euro, things have changed a lot for me. It’s harder to go out with my mom because more people recognize us,” he shared.
Lastly, Yamal reflected on the retirement of Andres Iniesta, calling him a club legend. “I was very young when he scored in the World Cup, so I don’t remember that moment, but I do remember watching him play alongside Messi and Neymar. He’s a true legend who will be missed,” he concluded.
Overall, Yamal is a talented young player who is still learning and growing in his role, and he values both his performance and the support from his team and coach.
