The Carabao Cup match between Chelsea and Barrow is scheduled for today, September 24, 2024. Here’s a breakdown of the predicted lineup, confirmed team news, and injury updates.
Chelsea are expected to make several changes for tonight’s Carabao Cup third-round game against Barrow, with Ben Chilwell likely to play for the first time this season.
Earlier in the summer, Chilwell was among the players left out by new manager Enzo Maresca, who was working to reduce the size of Chelsea’s large first-team squad.

Most of the players who were left out by Chelsea have either been sold or loaned out, but the club couldn’t find a buyer for Ben Chilwell before the transfer window closed. As a result, the England international has been brought back into the squad.
When asked if Chilwell, along with midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and young players Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong, would play in the Carabao Cup match against League Two leaders Barrow, manager Enzo Maresca confirmed, “They’re going to be the ones in the squad for tomorrow.”
Maresca added, “Some of them might start the game, but they’ll all be on the bench, and hopefully, we can give them some minutes.”
He also confirmed that right-back Malo Gusto is fit after missing the last two Premier League games due to a hamstring issue, though it’s unclear if he will play on Tuesday.
Midfielder Romeo Lavia remains out, but Maresca mentioned that the former Southampton player is expected to return for the weekend’s Premier League game against Brighton.
