On August 10, 2013, Horvath made his maiden appearance in a Molde matchday roster. On May 16, 2015, he made his professional debut by taking the place of rjan Nyland in the match’s 55th minute. Nyland was sold to Bundesliga side Ingolstadt 04 on July 1, 2015, leaving 20-year-old Horvath as Molde’s starting goalkeeper. By the end of the 2015 Tippeligaen, Horvath had assisted Molde in allowing just 31 goals, which was the second-best total in the league just behind Rosenborg, the league champions.

In a 1-1 tie against Ajax on October 2, 2015, Ethan Horvath was awarded Man of the Match. He recorded 10 stops, including one from a clear-cut header from Viktor Fischer. A day later, he was chosen to the Europa League Team of the Week. Molde finished first in Group A of the Europa League. Combining his performances in the Europa League and Tippeligaen, he had not given up more than two goals in a game in more than two months. In the knockout round against eventual Europa League champions Sevilla in February 2016, Horvath was unable to stop Molde from losing 1-3 on aggregate, despite keeping a clean sheet in the second leg.

 Club Brugge

Ethan Horvath signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Club Brugge in Belgium on January 3, 2017. He made his goalkeeping debut for Club Brugge on May 5 in the Championship Playoffs. In a 3-1 victory over Charleroi, Horvath rebounded from originally conceding a goal after mistaking a whistle from the fans for the referee’s whistle. He made three saves and even provided an assist to José Izquierdo off a punt. Horvath made four stops in the following game, a 1-1 tie with Anderlecht, including one on Youri Tielemans’ effort at a penalty kick. Horvath continued to start in goal as the season came to a close, assisting Club Brugge in advancing to the third qualifying round of the 2017–18 UEFA Champions League.

He was eventually benched, though, and was later held off the team for the majority of the season. His next run of starts didn’t come until May 2018 during the Belgian First Division A Championship Playoffs. He made three starts in the league playoffs as Club Brugge won the title and advanced to the group stage of the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League.

Ethan Horvath started the 2018–19 season with Club Brugge on the bench behind Croatian international goalkeeper Karlo Letica, but he quickly took back the starting position. In the UEFA Champions League group stage, Horvath kept three straight clean sheets against AS Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, and Atlético Madrid. After Simon Mignolet joined Club Brugge before the 2019–20 season, Horvath was once more demoted to the backup position and only occasionally deployed by the team.
