Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, 31, returned to training on Tuesday after an ankle injury ahead of their Champions League game against Aston Villa. Kane, who has a history of ankle injuries, was substituted late in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen.
On Tuesday, he took part in the first 15 minutes of training open to the media. Bayern’s medical team is optimistic, saying Kane is receiving “intensive treatment” after encouraging test results.
Bayern, six-time European champions, currently lead their Champions League group after a 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb, where Kane scored four goals, including three penalties. He has scored 10 goals in seven games for Bayern this season.
Aston Villa, who defeated Bayern to win the European Cup in 1982, are back in the Champions League for the first time in 41 years. They started with a 3-0 win against Young Boys.
