Keylor Navas is an acclaimed professional soccer player from Costa Rica. He is a goalkeeper and currently represents the Costa Rican national team and the famous Spanish soccer club Real Madrid. Keylor began his professional career with the Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa.

He represented the club for two seasons, after which he was signed by the Spanish club Albacete Balompié. His impressive performance allowed him to move on to the First Division, popularly called ‘La Liga’, the first division association football system in Spain.

Club Career

Saprissa

Born in San Isidro de El General, Navas made his professional debut with Deportivo Saprissa on November 6, 2005, in a First League match against the Carmelite Sports Association. He was the first-choice goalkeeper in his last two seasons with the club, winning six national championships and the 2005 CONCACAF Champions Cup.   • His parents left him when he was four years old

Navas’ parents, Sandra Gamboa and Freddy Navas left their children in the care of their grandparents when they left Costa Rica for the United States in search of a better economic base to raise their offspring.
