Liverpool’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker, 32, is expected to be out for about six weeks due to a hamstring injury. This injury will likely keep him out of key matches against Chelsea and Arsenal. Alisson sustained the injury during Liverpool’s recent 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, leaving the game in the second half.
According to British reports, tests indicate that Alisson may not be fit until after the international break in November. If all goes well, he could return for Liverpool‘s match against Southampton on November 24th.
In the meantime, Liverpool, under manager Arne Slot, will face Chelsea on October 20th and Arsenal on October 27th. They also have two important Champions League games coming up against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen.
Caoimhin Kelleher, who missed the Crystal Palace match due to illness, is expected to step in as the replacement goalkeeper, just as he did last season when Alisson was out with another hamstring injury.
After the Crystal Palace match, Slot acknowledged the impact of Alisson’s absence, saying, “It looks like he’ll be out for a few weeks, and it’s his hamstring. He’s the best goalkeeper in the world, so it’s a big blow for both him and the team.”
Liverpool currently lead the Premier League with 18 points from seven matches, holding a one-point advantage over Manchester City and Arsenal.
