ROADIS, a multinational company based in Madrid that specializes in investing, developing, operating, and managing global infrastructure assets, has launched Social Sports Schools in Varanasi. This initiative is in partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF).
In a major initiative to encourage the holistic development of young people in India through football, ROADIS, a Madrid-based multinational leader in global infrastructure investment and management, has launched Social Sports Schools in Varanasi. This project is in collaboration with the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF), which manages the social and educational programs of the renowned Real Madrid Club worldwide, and KHUSHI, an NGO founded by cricket legend Kapil Dev, aimed at supporting underprivileged children.
The initiative aims to instill values in over 200 first-generation learners from grades II to VIII, providing them with essential tools to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. The program ensures equal opportunities for both boys and girls. In its first phase, it has been launched in two schools—Primary School Daffi and Composite Vidyalaya Naveen in Varanasi. Through this program, students will receive a well-rounded experience, addressing their educational, life skills, and nutritional needs.
ROADIS has been running a similar program in Kedah, West Bengal, for over seven years. Following its positive impact, ROADIS is expanding the initiative to Varanasi, where it is currently constructing and operating a 192 km stretch of the Varanasi-Aurangabad NH-2 Tollways Private Limited.
Eduardo Calvo, Global Corporate Responsibility Director of ROADIS, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Sports play a crucial role in our upbringing. Through this program, we are offering the boys and girls of Varanasi a chance to experience a new way of life filled with opportunities. With the Real Madrid Foundation (RMF) program, we now complete the full circle of holistic development for children. We’re introducing the RMF program in two schools where our Shikshantra Plus program for quality education with KHUSHI is already active. We believe that by equipping students with both physical and intellectual tools, we’re preparing a generation of resilient, socially aware, and successful individuals.”
The RMF program is a transformative initiative that uses football to teach values and develop life skills. It promotes important qualities such as respect, teamwork, autonomy, self-esteem, health, equality, and motivation. To ensure international-level training, local coaches—both male and female—received training on the Real Madrid methodology from an RMF football trainer during a three-day camp in Varanasi. This empowered local educators to implement the program with the same dedication and excellence as RMF.
Julio González Ronco, Managing Director of the Real Madrid Foundation, added, “Educational sports is one of the best ways to instill values like teamwork, collaboration, and leadership. Our initiative aims to foster a value-driven culture of diversity, inclusion, and equality. With male and female trainers, we are committed to training both girls and boys equally. Creating a platform for equal opportunity is essential for building strong individuals and, ultimately, a strong nation.”
