Early Life
Signe Kallesøe Bruun was born on April 6, 1998, in Randers, Denmark. She began her football journey with the youth club VSK Aarhus, where she developed her skills and showcased her potential as a striker. In 2014, at the age of 16, Bruun signed her first professional contract with Fortuna Hjørring, one of Denmark’s top women’s football clubs. During her tenure with Fortuna Hjørring from 2014 to 2018, she made 89 appearances and scored 62 goals, contributing to the team’s success in winning the Elitedivisionen in 2016 and 2018, as well as the Danish Women’s Cup in 2016. Her impressive performances at the club level led to her debut for the Denmark national team on October 24, 2017, in a World Cup qualifier against Croatia, where she scored her first international goal shortly after coming on as a substitute.

Signe Bruun Club Career
Bruun joined Fortuna Hjørring from IK Skovbakken in 2014.She played her first game for Fortuna on August 16, 2014, and scored twice in a 5–1 win over Vejle in the Elitedivisionen. On November 8, 2014, Bruun first appeared in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She replaced Nadia Nadim in the 74th minute of her team’s 2–1 loss to FC Rosengrd in the round of 16. In 2016, Bruun and Fortuna won the Elitedivisionen and the Danish Women’s Cup.
On August 31, 2018, Fortuna announced that Bruun would play for Paris Saint-Germain in the French D1 Féminine league. Bruun played in 17 games in her first season and scored four goals across all categories. In June 2019, Bruun hurt her ACL, which took her out of sports for a year.
She played again in a game on August 2, 2020, in a postponed Coupe de France semi-final against Bordeaux. In the 84th minute, she scored the game-winning goal in a 2–1 win. Seven days later, she came in as a sub in the cup final against Lyon. After extra time, there was still no winner. PSG lost 4–3, even though Bruun scored during the spot shootout.
Later that month, Bruun came on as a replacement in the 74th minute of the 2019–20 UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final against Arsenal, which had been postponed. She scored the winning goal three minutes later, giving her team the single-leg win of 2–1. The next season, Bruun won the Division 1 Féminine title with PSG. It was the club’s first league title and ended Lyon’s 14-year run at the top.
In June 2021, Bruun joined Lyon.
On January 27, 2022, Bruun moved to the English FA Women’s Super League club Manchester United on loan for the rest of the 2021–22 season. This was the last day that clubs could make moves. Because of injuries, Bruun only played seven times in all categories and didn’t score a goal for the club during that time.

Bruun played for Denmark when he was 16 years old, 17 years old, 19 years old, and 23 years old. She scored the most goals while qualifying for the 2015 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship, with 10. Eight goals came in a qualifying round game on October 18, 2014, against Kazakhstan.
It was the same number of goals that Vivianne Miedema scored in a single match against the same team in 2012. Bruun was chosen to play for Denmark at the 2015 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship held in Israel. She had scored in three qualifying games. Denmark was knocked out in the group stage, but she played in all three of their games.
Senior
On October 24, 2017, Bruun played her first game for the senior Denmark national team against Croatia in a match for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She came on as a replacement for Nadia Nadim two minutes into extra time. Two minutes later, she scored her first goal in Denmark’s 4–0 win. While qualifying for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Bruun scored six straight games for Denmark in 2021. In total, she scored 12 goals in those six games.
