Barbara Lorsheyd Club Career
Lorsheyd started playing football and played as a striker. His doctor told him he couldn’t keep playing football because his knees hurt. But she chose to be a goalkeeper instead. He first played for Sv Loosduinen, then for SV Wateringse Veld, and finally for RKSV GDA.
He started his professional career with ado Den Haag when the club was formed for the first season of Eredivisie Vrouwen in 2007–08. He joined the club when he was 16 and played there for seven years.
During the 2011-12 season, he was the team’s main goalkeeper, and they won both the Eredivisie and the KNVB Beker. The KNVB Beker won again the next year, with Anouk Dekker’s penalty save against FC Twente being the game-winner. The club season’s best player was named.
Lorsheyd played for ado Den Haag for more than 110 games in the Eredivisie and five games in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. In 2014, she moved to SC Telstar. Lorsheyd was upset when a transfer to FC Basel Frauen fell at the end of the warning while he was with Telstar. In June 2015, she agreed to keep her Telstar job for another season.
Lorsheyd left Telstar in June 2016 after two seasons to join the national champion FC Twente. He said he wanted to try out again for the national team. With Twente, he played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2016–17, including the 4-0 loss to Barcelona at De Grolsch Veste, which 7,035 people watched.

International career
Junior
Lorsheyd was one of four ADO Den Haag players called up to the Netherlands women’s under-19 football team in September 2008 for a qualifying round for the 2009 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship in Lithuania. She played in five games at the under-19 level.
Lorsheyd was named to the newly formed Netherlands women’s under-23 national football team in April 2019. She is one of two overage players on the team, along with goalkeeper Jennifer Vreugdenhil, who she played with at ADO.
Senior
In November 2013, Loes Geurts hurt his ankle, so coach Roger Reijners called Lorsheyd up to the senior Netherlands national team for the first time. She was called up to the national team many more times after that, but she never played for them. She was on Reijners’ preliminary team of 35 players for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada and was put on standby for the 2019 tournament in France.
She was chosen to be on the Dutch team for the 2020 Summer Olympics but didn’t make the final cut. As a national team player who wasn’t a full-time professional footballer, Lorsheyd had to make a financial deal with the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) so she could train full-time in the lead-up to the tournament.
Lorsheyd accidentally hurt Sherida Spitse’s knee ligaments while they were training for the Olympics in Japan. This meant that Spitse couldn’t go to the Olympics. Spitse didn’t feel bad about what happened, and the two of them sat next to each other at the first group match and then flew home together. Lorsheyd has been a part of the Dutch women’s national football team ever since.
In November 2021, Lorsheyd was called up again to play a friendly match with Japan in her hometown of The Hague. She had been on the national team for eight years, but she had only played once, in a friendly match against Belgium in 2017. She got her first official cap by playing the whole game, which ended in a 0-0 draw with Japan.
