A comprehensive 4-2 victory confirmed Xavi’s men as champions with four games of the season to play.

The victory was confirmed at the RCDE Stadium of their city rival, Espanyol, who faces relegation, but that did not stop the Barcelona fans from celebrating.

Joined by other squad members and some officials, the Barcelona players gathered in the centre circle and launched into a celebratory dance following the final whistle.

Boos rang out as Espanyol fans did not take kindly to their rivals celebrating on their pitch.

Spectators eventually managed to make their way onto the pitch and after some evaded security, went in the direction of the Barca players.

The Barcelona players saw the imminent danger and ran for the safety of the tunnel as the number of fans entering the playing surface grew in number.

Fans gathered in large numbers and clashed with security as the scenes turned ugly.
