Taylor was a regular on the under-18 team during his first year on the youth team. In the second half of the 2010–11 season, he became a regular on the reserve team and played in nine games.
He scored a goal for the under-18 team against Newcastle United that was named the LFE’s 2010–11 Academy & Youth Alliance Goal of the Season in April 2011. LFE CEO Alan Sykes called it an “incredible strike.”
Senior debut and loan moves
Taylor made his first-team debut for Leeds on August 9, 2011, when he was 17 years old. He came on as a substitute in the second half of the League Cup game against local rivals Bradford City. He played left back for Leeds for the first time in the Championship on September 10 against Crystal Palace. Aidy White was out, so he filled in for him. He set up Ross McCormack’s goal, who scored the first goal of the game as Leeds won 3–2.
Even though Taylor had a good first game, he was taken out of the team for the next game against Bristol City, and White was put back in. Taylor was listed as a substitute for the 3–0 League Cup loss to rivals Manchester United on September 20, 2011, but he didn’t play.
Taylor was called up to the England under-19 team for the Limoges Tournament the month after he played for the senior team.

Graham Alexander signed Taylor as a one-month loan player for Fleetwood Town on October 18, 2013. Taylor’s first game for Fleetwood Town was the same day. He played in a loss to Southend United by a score of 2-0.
Taylor’s loan was extended until January 2014 on November 6, after he did well in his first month at the club. After extending Taylor’s loan, manager Graham Alexander said he was happy to be able to keep him. Taylor’s performances have been praised highly. His loan was given until the end of the season on December 17.
