Key Pre-Season Achievements and Changes for Everton

Everton Pre-Season Training Camp

When it comes to football, there’s no doubt that Everton is one of the most highly praised clubs in the UK, often competing against many other big clubs as part of the Premier League. And, with the 2023-2024 Season set to start in just a few weeks, now, there’s no doubt that fans are already gearing up for what will hopefully be a good year; hopefully, they may be able to return to the success of the 2020/2021 Season, if things go to plan.

Regardless of whether you just watch from the comfort of your own home, head to the pub with mates to enjoy the game, or if you like to bet on Everton matches, knowing what’s upcoming can be hugely exciting and important (when it comes to betting!). Of course, there’s a whole load of Everton news to catch up on – but we’ve outlined some of the biggest pre-season achievements and changes.

Early Success in Pre-Season Matches

No doubt, it’s been a big couple of weeks for Everton as they gear themselves up for the arrival of the Premier League – and the pre-season matches that come with this! Indeed, this week saw the team achieve a 2-1 win against Swiss team, Stade Nyonnais. Hopefully something they’ll continue to work towards once the big matches start.

This comes after the tense win during the team’s Premier League match against Bournemouth back on the 28th of May, which resulted in a 1-0 victory. However, after tying 1-1 with the Wolves on the 20th of May and losing 3-0 to Manchester City on the 14th, fans will no doubt be watching to see if they maintain their form or slip back.

Currently, Everton is sitting in 9th place on the Premier League table; it’s not necessarily bad, but every victory is definitely going to count if this year is to end up a success. No doubt the players will still have to pull out all the stops to ensure they bring their best performance yet against some truly formidable opponents.

Exciting New Transfers

One of the easiest ways for a team to change their fate is to bring on new players – and Everton is definitely making the most of this with the signing of new player, Ashley Young. Previously playing for Watford, Aston Villa (twice), Manchester United, and Inter Milan, there’s no doubt this highly talented player can bring some new skill to the team. He’ll be playing as full-back.

This new signing has only been announced very recently, and he’s only on a one-year contract, so a lot could change between this year and next. There is the option for an additional twelve months on the contract, though, which may give a little more stability in the long run.

One factor that many Everton fans will appreciate is the fact that Ashley Young has had his sights set on transferring to Everton, even turning down other offers for contracts. In a quote, he stated that, “I’m delighted to be an Everton player and to have joined this massive club.

However, while the addition of Ashley Young to the team will definitely be exciting, it’s well worth considering here that he’s not the only name to be welcomed. Indeed, Everton also appear to be edging closer to signing Wilfred Gnonto onto their roster, a deal that would see the Leeds United player joining for the current season. Everton have reportedly put an initial bid of £16 million plus £5 million in bonuses on the table, so fans will have to wait and see whether this will be accepted. The goal for the team appears to be finding a goalscorer who can help take them to the next level, but whether this will ever come to fruition will naturally depend on how generous the team can be with their contract offers. Needless to say, the budget’s a little tight.

Final Thoughts

The Premier League’s right around the corner, and the decisions made by Everton now will no doubt have a big impact on whether they are able to perform in the upcoming matches or not. Needless to say, the most in-demand fixture in the next few weeks has to be the team’s opening game against Fulham on the 12th of August at 3PM, which has already sold out; however, tickets are still available for all of their other Premier League fixtures.

With such last-minute changes to the team, who knows where Everton will be at the end of the upcoming season. Things seem to already be shaping up in a very exciting manner, and for passionate Everton fans and supporters, the hype is only growing. Kick off’s less than three weeks away now, after all.

Who knows whether the upcoming transfers will go ahead, and whether Everton will be able to improve their win record for the season is yet to be seen. Here’s hoping!
