Napoli makes another Serie A title statement with Juventus thrashing

Napoli continued their assault to their first Serie A title in over 30 years with another home win over Juventus to open a 10-point gap at the top of the league table.

Victor Osimhen netted a brace while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Amir Rahmani, and Elif Elmas were also on the scoreboard during the 5-1 win with Ángel Di María on target for the visitors.

Napoli dominates Juventus from the start:

Juventus 8-match winning streak mattered little to the hosts who were in the lead from the first whistle. Osimhen scored the opener after just 14 minutes when he grabbed the rebound after Wojciech Szczęsny saved Kvaratskhelia’s effort.

Juventus came alive after the goal and Di Maria soon hit the crossbar to send a stern warning to Napoli.

After very little action at the goal mouth for the remainder of the half, Napoli doubled their lead in the 39th when Osimhen returned the favor for Kvaratskhelia, rolling through the box for his unmarked teammate into the corner. bottom right.

Di María reduced the difference to three minutes from halftime to give his team the hope of coming back in the second verse.

Napoli relaxes to win in the second half:

The home side were even better in the second half to snuff out any hope of a comeback for Juventus.

Rrahmani added his team’s third when a Kvaratskhelia corner found him in the center of the box and sent the ball into the back of the net just 11 minutes after the restart.

The Georgian again provided an assist for Osimhen in the 65th minute, who headed past Szczęsny before Elmas completed the rout in the 72nd.

The win leaves Napoli 10 points clear at the top of the Serie A table. However, AC Milan can cut the deficit to 7 with a win against Lecce.

Napoli last won Serie A in the 1989/90 season with Diego Maradona at the helm.
