Ralf Rangnick confirms Harry Maguire will remain Manchester United captain

Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that Harry Maguire will remain captain of the club until at least the end of the campaign.

Maguire’s recent performances have been heavily criticized, with a recent report claiming that Rangnick was considering handing the armband to Cristiano Ronaldo for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old took to social media on Friday to deny the suggestions, insisting the team are “united” and focused on Sunday’s Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Rangnick has now firmly denied that there was any discussion of changing the captaincy at Old Trafford, with Maguire, set to keep the armband for the rest of the 2021-22 campaign.

“Well, for starters, I have to say this is absolute nonsense,” Rangnick told reporters. “I have never spoken to any player about a possible change of captaincy, Harry was fully aware of that, as was Cristiano and the other players. This has never been a problem for me.”

“I am the one who decides who is the captain and therefore there is no reason for me to talk about it with someone else. Harry is our captain and will remain our captain until the end of the season and there is nothing more to add “. .”

Earlier this week, Marcus Rashford also denied there was a problem in the Man United dressing room after it was suggested that Ronaldo’s arrival had unsettled the English players at Old Trafford.
