Early Life
“AD” Adrianna Franch grew up in Salina, Kansas. Salina South High School’s starting goalie for three seasons, she missed her final year due to a basketball injury. South named her All-State, All-Southwest Region, and All-League MVP. French was an All-State honorable mention and first-team All-County and All-League basketball player.
French was a three-year Kansas Olympic Development Program (ODP) athlete. 2006 ODP National Pool and Region II ODP player. She led her club team, the KC Comets Select, to a 2006 Kansas state championship and the 2007 and 2008 state finals. French was nicknamed the “next Bri Scurry” because she idolized women’s national team goalie Briana Scurry.
Oklahoma State University
French started 24 games as a freshman goalkeeper for Oklahoma State University in 2009, allowing 14 goals for a 0.61 GAA. First-Team All-Big 12 with 15–6–2 and 11 shutouts. French helped the Cowgirls win their second Big 12 tournament. French is a Big 12 and Oklahoma State University football legend. She was a two-time All-American and MAC Hermann Award semifinalist. She was the seventh player in Big 12 Conference history to make the All-Big 12 First Team in all four seasons with Oklahoma State.
French led the Big 12 in shutouts in three of her four seasons and set the OSU career record with 38. She finished second in program history with 325 saves. Franch’s 38 shutouts and 8,064:02 minutes in goal rank sixth and ninth, respectively, in NCAA history. The 2013–2014 Western New York Flash
French was picked sixth in the first round of the 2013 National Women’s Soccer League college draught. She was the first goalkeeper picked by any team and the first player picked by Western New York Flash. French said of the Flash, “They are a very strong team that plays together and knows how to win. I’m really excited to be around them because they have a lot of drive and heart.” Even though the Flash lost 1-0 because of their own goal, Franch was praised as a great goalkeeper who could do well in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, Franch did not play in the National Women’s Soccer League in 2014.
Avaldsnes IL, 2015
French joined Avaldsnes IL, a Norwegian club that plays in the Toppserien, in 2015, after getting better from her injury. She started 12 games and played 1080 minutes for the team, helping to keep four clean sheets. The team came in second place at the end of the 2015 Toppserien.

International career
Franch played for the U-20, U-23, and senior USWNT. In 2009, she was invited to the U-20 camp in Sunrise, Florida. In March 2010, she made her international debut at the La Manga Tournament in Spain, beating Norway and tying Germany. In May 2012, coach Pia Sundhage summoned Franch up to practice with the US women’s national football team in preparation for the 2012 Summer Olympics. In March 2013, coach Tom Sermanni named her to the senior team roster for exhibition matches against Germany and the Netherlands. French was called into the USWNT’s January 2016 training camp by coach Jill Ellis and again for the June 2016 friendlies against Japan.
In January 2018, Franch was called up to the USWNT’s annual January training camp. She was also named to the roster for the 2018 Tournament of Nations, which the United States won, but Franch did not play because USWNT number one keeper Alyssa Naeher played all three games. In August 2018, Franch was called up for a set of friendlies against Chile, but she did not play. French was named to the preliminary 35-person squad for the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s Championship but not the final 20. However, she was announced to join the team to help prepare.
French was called up to the senior national team for friendlies in Portugal and Scotland in November 2018. In January 2019, she attended the USWNT’s annual January training camp in the Algarve region of Portugal. She remained with the team for matches against France and Spain but did not play. The U.S. Franch played the entire USWNT’s second match in the SheBelieves Cup, a 2–2 draw against England. This was her senior national team debut.
