Al Janoub Stadium, formerly known as Al-Wakrah Stadium, is a retractable-roof football stadium in Al-Wakrah, Qatar, which opened on May 16, 2019. This is the second of eight stadiums for the Cup FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. after the renovation of the Khalifa International Stadium.

Al Janoub Stadium History
Qatar was chosen to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup in 2010. It would become the first Muslim-majority country and the first country in the Middle East to host the World Cup. Qatar previously did not have the sporting capacity for the Cup, and as such, 8 new stadiums are expected to be built to prepare for the Cup.
The stadium was inaugurated on 16 May 2019, during the 2019 Amir Cup final between Al Sadd SC and Al-Duhail SC played in front of an audience of 38,678, making it the second stadium to be completed after the Stadium Al Khalifa International. This match was attended by the Emir (Head of State) of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The stadium hosted a semi-final match at the 24th Arabian Gulf Cup.
In December 2020, Al Janoub Stadium hosted the 2020 AFC Champions League Final.
The stadium hosted six matches during the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.

Al Janoub Stadium is served by a network of new expressways and roads that provide easy access to residents and visitors to both Al Wakrah and Doha.
The stadium will be served by Al Wakrah station on the Red Line of the Doha Metro. The station is located 4.5km from the stadium and will be served by shuttle bus services on match days.
The precinct has dedicated bus stops, interconnected cycling paths, and safe pedestrian routes.
