San Lorenzo

Born in Rosario, Santa Fe province, Correa joined the San Lorenzo youth organization in 2007, at age 12, after a trial period. In the summer of 2012, he was due to join the Portuguese club Benfica on a free transfer, but the deal later fell through.

Correa signed a four-year professional contract with Ciclón on September 23, 2012, and was promoted to the first team in January 2013. On March 31, he played his first professional game, entering as a substitute in the second half in a 0- 1 loss at Newell’s Old Boys.

Atlético Madrid

On May 27, 2014, after scoring six goals in 2013-14, Correa had reached an agreement with Atlético de Madrid, reigning La Liga champions, for a fee of 7.5 million euros. He signed a five-year contract with the Madrid team, joining the club after the 2014 Copa Libertadores.

In June 2014, however, Correa was on the sidelines for six months due to a heart tumor. After undergoing surgery on June 18 in New York, he began light training in August and officially joined the club on December 13.

On August 22, 2015, Correa finally made his Atleti debut, replacing Óliver Torres in a 1-0 league win at home against UD Las Palmas. He scored his first goal for the club on September 19, scoring the first in a 2-0 win over SD Eibar; he also assisted Fernando Torres in the second goal.
