Ashton Gate is a stadium in Ashton Gate, Bristol, England, and is the home of Bristol City and the Bristol Bears. Located in the south-west of the city, just south of the River Avon, it currently has a seating capacity of 27,000.

Ashton Gate Stadium History
Ashton Gate was the home of Bedminster until its 1900 merger with Bristol South End who played at St John’s Lane, and the merged club played at St John’s Lane until the end of the 1903–04 season, when they moved to Ashton Gate.
The pitch has also been part of the city’s rugby history. Bristol played there on a number of occasions since the 1920s, one of which was on 27 December 2006 when they defeated local rivals Bath Rugby 16–6 as they packed the stadium to an all-time Premiership record crowd away from Twickenham. There have been a number of rugby union internationals, beginning with England against Wales in 1899. 100 year later, the All Blacks faced Tonga in a Rugby World Cup group match. As of the 2014-2015 season, Bristol Rugby has moved permanently to Ashton Gate.
It has hosted three international under-21 friendlies for England. The first was against Italy on February 12, 1997, with Darren Eadie scoring the winner in a 1-0 win in front of 13,850 spectators. The second came against the Romanian under-21s on 21 August 2007. It ended in a 1–1 draw with Matt Derbyshire giving the hosts the lead in the eighth minute, but Joe Hart’s own goal in the minute 25 gave the visitors a draw but they had Cristian Scutaru.

The hosts beat the visitors 2–0 with Danny Rose scoring in the 64th minute and Martin Kelly scoring in the 78th minute. It was attended by 9,821. It also hosted the 2021 National League play-off final after it was moved from Wembley Stadium to avoid clashes with UEFA Euro 2020 matches.

Ashton Gate has four stands in a typically English style, although The Williams Stand was demolished in 2015 as the club prepared to begin renovations. It reopened ahead of the 2016-2017 season and was renamed the Lansdown Stand.
The Dolman Stand is the largest section of the ground and stands opposite where the Williams Stand, currently sponsored by ETM Recycling, used to stand, while the Atyeo Stand, sponsored by Bateman Skips, was built in 1994 and contains the club’s changing rooms.
The South Stand opened in 2015 and is the only one of the currently open stands not named after a person, although it does have a sponsor named Xledger.

There is limited parking near Ashton Gate, with restrictions on street parking. You may be able to find a couple of private car parks, of course, and there will be some public ones in the Bristol city center.
