Atletico Madrid Home Stadium

The club plays at home in the Wanda Metropolitano, which was expanded from a seating capacity of 20,000 (when it was known as La Peineta) to 68,000 after it was used for Madrid’s failed bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics. After the renovation of the stadium, the renovated venue hosted the first official match between Atlético and Málaga CF, in which Antoine Griezmann scored the club’s first goal at the stadium.

Atletico Madrid Kit

Atlético began playing in blue and white, mirroring then parent club Athletic Bilbao, but both switched to red and white stripes in 1911, which became their traditional colors. The change took hold because the red and white striped jerseys were cheaper to make, as the same combination was used to make bed mattresses, and the unused fabric was easily made into football jerseys. The kit has been made by Nike since 2001 as the company wants to compete with rival brand Adidas, which has a long-term contract with Real Madrid.
