President addressed fan concerns in a video shared on social media that the Barcelona first team will be reinforced.
After a difficult week at Barcelona, the club’s president, Joan Laporta, insisted that the club is on the right track and the first team will be strengthened in January.
Barcelona were unceremoniously expelled from the Champions League after being defeated by Bayern Munich on Wednesday, and Laporta has asked his supporters to drive, in a 36-second video shared on social media and said Barcelona first team will be reinforced.
“I share your disappointment at our elimination from the Champions League. We all agree that we need to strengthen the first team,” Laporta said.
“The problem is that we have inherited some inflated contracts that do not give us room with the salary cap. We are working to find a formula to improve the team this winter. We are working to do it and we will achieve that.
“Now, I ask you all to work in the same direction in these times for the good of the club.”
Laporta’s statement once again recognizes the challenges presented by the club’s economic situation with necessary exits before signings can be made at the Camp Nou.
