Diego Rossi Club Career
Youth
Rossi started playing soccer as a child at the El Queso school in Solymar. At the age of six, Rossi moved to the Polideportivo Solymar Uruguay, with which he competed in the Liga Interbalnearia de Fútbol Juvenil. He demonstrated his ability at the club and caught the attention of Peñarol, where he entered their youth academy at the age of 12. Néstor Gonçalves discovered him and they invited him to play a friendly in Alegrete with the team, where they finally offered him a contract.
At 14 years old, Rossi was the top scorer for the U-14 team in the Uruguayan seventh division, where he was top scorer in 2012 with 42 goals in 27 games. With Peñarol’s U-15 team, Rossi helped the team win the Torneo Apertura and the Uruguayan U-15 Championship, as well as the Fabián Lomineto Cup.
