Club Career
Costa made his senior debut on August 6, 2017, in a 1–2 home defeat against Gil Vicente FC in Liga. He finished the season with 31 more games, helping to finish in seventh place.
On May 15, 2018, Costa extended his contract until June 2022. In September, he was named the club’s Newcomer of the Year; later that year, Spaniard Iker Casillas — who started in the starting lineup — praised him, calling him his “successor”.
Costa won the 2018–19 UEFA Youth League with Porto, defeating Chelsea 3–1 in the final in Nyon, Switzerland on 29 April. Days later, after Casillas suffered a heart attack, Vaná replaced him as a first-choice goalkeeper and Costa was called up to the bench for the final three games of the season, starting with a 4–0 win against C.D. Birds on May 4.
On 25 September 2019, Costa made his first-team debut in the opening match of the League Cup, keeping a clean sheet in a 1–0 home win over C.D. Santa Clara. His first appearance in the Primeira Liga took place on 10 November, in a 1–0 away win over Boavista FC, with regular starter Agustín Marchesín being suspended internally for a breach of discipline.
