Born and raised in Salto, Uruguay, he got his first career breakthrough from him in the 2007 ‘Campeonato Sudamericano Juvenil’ at the age of 20, putting him at the forefront of emerging talent in Uruguayan soccer.

Club Career

Danubio

Edinson Cavani’s professional career began in 2005 when he made his debut with Danubio in the First Division. Cavani played two seasons in the Danubio senior team. He scored 7 goals in 15 matches during his first professional season.

In the 2006-07 season Cavani played 15 games in all competitions and scored 5 goals. He was often used as a substitute and contributed to the team’s success when Danubio won the First Division at the end of the season. He was also impressed at the junior South American championship. In January 2007, Cavani left his boyhood club for Palermo despite strong interest from many top European teams.

Napoli

In the summer of 2010, Cavani signed on loan from Napoli.
