Club Career

Eiji Kawashima has played for 7 clubs in his 16-year playing career, as well as the Japan Under-20 Team and the Japan National Team.

Omiya Ardija (2001-2003) and Nagoya Grampus Eight (2004-2006)

Although Eiji attended Urawa Higashi High School, instead of signing with Urawa Red Diamonds, Omiya Ardija signed him in January 2001. The club even sent Kawashima to train with Parma F.C. in the Italian Serie A league.

In 2004, Kawashima joined Japan’s J. League side Nagoya Grampus Eight and served as a backup to veteran goalkeeper Seigo Narazaki until 2005, when he took over the lead role. Later, at the end of the 2006 season, Eiji Kawashima left the club.

Kawasaki Front (2007-2010)

International career
