Although there have been several allegations of bribery and corruption implicating members of the FIFA Executive Committee, Qatar won its rights by defeating the likes of Japan, the United States and South Korea in multiple rounds.
The bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups started in January 2019. All non-UEFA member countries withdrew themselves from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, ensuring that a UEFA nation would host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
This made UEFA ineligible to bid for the next edition of the World Cup.

The 2018 World Cup was played at 12 different venues in Russia, but this time The World Cup in Qatar will be held across 8 stadiums in total. Out of all the eight stadiums, seven are newly built with world-class facilities. The other one is completely renovated.

Due to the country’s hot and humid weather conditions in the summer, the World Cup will be held in a span of 28 days between 21 November 2022 and will end on 18 December 2022 a week before Christmas.
