Carlisle

At 17, Madine made his Carlisle debut on 3 March 2008, replacing Danny Graham in the 92nd minute in a 1–0 win at Nottingham Forest. In June 2008, he signed a three-year contract after 12 appearances. His first outings of the next season were in the League Cup, a 1–0 win at League Two Shrewsbury Town and a 4–0 loss to Championship side Queens Park Rangers. On 30 August 2008, he scored his first league goal in a 4–1 win over Yeovil Town.

After Rochdale had a two-goal lead, he scored again in the Football League Trophy on 7 October. Penalties decided it. Carlisle lost the shootout 4–3. Madine scored. He scored on his FA Cup debut as Carlisle drew 1–1 with Grays Athletic at Brunton Park on 8 November. Carlisle won the rematch 2–0, but Crewe eliminated them in the next round.

Madine joined League Two side Rochdale on a month-long loan on 20 March 2009. He made his debut the next day, setting up Adam Le Fondre for a last-minute winner as Rochdale defeated Wycombe Wanderers 1–0. He returned to Carlisle after two more outings. He scored his first goal of the next season in a 2–0 League Cup triumph over Championship side Bristol City, helping Carlisle reach the third round for the first time since 1976.

He played regularly before joining Championship side Coventry City on a three-month loan on 19 October 2009. His Ricoh Arena debut was a 0–0 draw against West Brom on 24 October. Sheffield Wednesday signed Madine on 15 January 2011 for four-and-a-half years. He debuted on 22 January in a 4–0 loss at Leyton Orient. He scored in a 5–3 London Road loss to Peterborough. He scored in a 4–0 win over Tranmere and a 2–0 win over Preston North End. He scored 18 goals for Carlisle and Sheffield Wednesday. On 20 August 2011, he scored his first 2011–12 goal in a 2–1 win over Notts County. He scored twice as Sheffield Wednesday defeated Scunthorpe United 3–2 on 27 August. He scored twice in a 3–1 win over MK Dons on 10 September, then scored twice against Stevenage, Yeovil, and Exeter in a four-game scoring streak.

His eleventh goal of the season came in a 3–1 win over Chesterfield. He scored again in a 2–2 tie against Sheffield United. In the Steel City derby, Wednesday scored two goals in the final ten minutes, including an 85th-minute header from Madine, to tie the game. After scoring 10 goals in 12 games, he was named September Football League Young Player of the Month. He got sent off for the first time in a 3–2 loss at his previous club, Carlisle, on 25 October. He missed six weeks after breaking his toe in a 2–1 win against Tranmere on 19 November. He scored in a 2–2 tie against Hartlepool after recovering from injury.

He earned a 4–1 triumph over Bury on 6 March 2012. Later the same month, he scored in back-to-back games, a 2–1 triumph over Notts County and an injury-time equalizer against Walsall. He scored twice as Sheffield Wednesday defeated Preston North End 2–0 at home on 31 March. On 9 November, he scored his first league goal of 2012–13 in a 3–1 loss at Middlesbrough. Madine returned to Carlisle United on loan on 27 March 2014, finishing the 2013–14 season.

COVENTRY (loan)

On 30 October 2014, Madine was loaned to Coventry City for one month. After scoring his first goal back in the Football League Trophy contest against Plymouth Argyle F.C. at the Ricoh Arena, he scored the only goal in their 22 November win against Colchester United. After scoring again in a 2–0 win over Port Vale at Vale Park on 13 December, the Coventry Telegraph awarded him Player of the Month.

Blackpool (loan)

Madine was loaned to Blackpool on 10 February 2015. Three goals in 15 league games for Blackpool.

BWFC

Bolton Wanderers signed Madine for two years on June 8, 2015. In a 2–2 tie with Brighton & Hove Albion on 26 September, he scored his first Bolton goal. On 31 May 2017, the club announced that Madine had signed a new two-year contract, potentially keeping him until 2019.

Cardiff City
