Start of a job

For the 2018 season, Huitema would sign with the Women’s Premier Soccer League team TSS FC Rovers.

Paris Saint-Germain

It was announced on July 23, 2018, that Huitema would play for PSG Féminines in the 2018 Women’s International Champions Cup (WICC). She didn’t sign a professional contract with the team, which meant she could still go to college. She started for PSG when they played Manchester City Women in a pre-season friendly on July 24 at the University of Portland. Huitema also started for PSG in their International Champions Cup semi-final game, which they lost to the North Carolina Courage 2–1.

On January 24, 2019, Huitema said she would skip college and go straight to the pros. On May 17, 2019, PSG announced that Huitema had signed a contract with the team for four years. On June 4, 2021, Huitema scored a header in the last few minutes of Paris Saint-3–0 Germain’s win over Dijon. This was the club’s first league title, and it helped them win the Division 1 Féminine title.

OL Reign

Huitema moved to the American club OL Reign on June 18, 2022, and signed a two-year deal with the team. In the final of The Women’s Cup in 2022, she scored her first goal for the team, which put the Reign up 2-1 over Racing Louisville FC and turned out to be the game-winning goal. She scored two goals in the rest of the regular season, including one in the last game of the season against the Orlando Pride, which gave the Reign the NWSL Shield.

Jordyn Huitema International career

Youth

Huitema made her junior debut for Canada on August 7, 2014, against Puerto Rico in a 5–0 win at the CONCACAF Girls Under-15 Championship. The Canadians went on to win the inaugural tournament in a penalty shootout, with Huitema scoring the winning goal. She would go on to make 10 more appearances for the under-15 team.

Huitema earned 7 additional appearances for the under-17 team, scoring her first FIFA goal in a 3–2 win over Cameroon at the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Huitema scored her first goal for the under-20 team on July 6, 2017, in a 4–1 win over the United States. On July 12, 2017, she scored in a 3–1 loss to China in an under-17 match, becoming the first Canadian to score for the under-17, under-20, and senior national teams in the same calendar year.

In 2017, she was named the Canada U-17 Female Player of the Year for her performances with the U-17, U-20, and senior teams. Canada needed a win over Haiti in the third-place match to qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France later in the year, but they lost 1–0 and failed to qualify. Huitema was the tournament’s top scorer with five goals and was named to the Best XI.

Senior

Her senior national team debut came on March 8, 2017, in the final of the 2017 Algarve Cup versus Spain. The cap made her the third youngest player to appear in a match for the senior team. Her first goal came on June 11, 2017, in a friendly against Costa Rica at BMO Field in Toronto. The tally made her the second youngest goal scorer in the history of the national team. She scored a second goal less than a minute later.

Huitema led the 2020 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship in scoring with seven goals, including five in the group stage game against Jamaica and the lone goal in Canada’s 1–0 semi-final victory over Costa Rica that qualified Canada for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Shortly afterwards, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the Tokyo Olympics by a year. Huitema made the Canadian Olympic team. Canada won its first Olympic gold in the women’s event. Huitema played 36 minutes in the final game, replacing Christine Sinclair at 86 minutes.
