Teenage job

When he was younger, McCabe played for Kilnamanagh AFC and Crumlin United F.C. on their boys’ youth teams. At age 10, she joined her first girls’ team in Templeogue. From then until she was 13, she played for both the girls’ and boys’ teams. Damien Duff was her favourite player when she was a child. She also played Gaelic football and basketball in middle and high school.

The Women’s National League: 2011–2015

When the Women’s National League (WNL) started up in 2011 with Raheny United, McCabe joined them. She had trained with the club before, but league rules said she couldn’t sign a deal until 16. She played for the club in the first season of the tournament. Over the next three years, she helped “The Pandas” win two league titles and three FAI Women’s Cups. She also played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the club.

Due to a broken leg, she missed four months of the 2013–14 season. She was also asked to play for the Florida State Seminoles women’s soccer team in the United States that same year, but the move fell through because she got hurt.

McCabe scored 23 WNL goals for Raheny in 2014–15. He was two goals behind UCD Waves’ ine O’Gorman, who had the most goals. In November 2014, she scored the first goal for Raheny from a 35-yard free kick in the FAI Women’s Cup final, helping the club win its second FAI Cup.

McCabe stayed with the club when it changed its name to Shelbourne Ladies for the 2015–16 season.

She signed with London club Arsenal Ladies in December 2015, turning down offers from Glasgow City, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

City of Glasgow: 2017 (on loan)

In her first year with Arsenal, she got hurt and didn’t play much with the first team. In August 2017, she joined Glasgow City on loan for the second half of the Scottish Women’s Premier League season. She played several times in the UEFA Women’s Champions League and helped Glasgow win the Scottish championship.

Arsenal: 2017–present

When she returned to Arsenal after her loan, the new boss, Joe Montemurro, moved her to left full-back.

During the 2018–19 season, she played the most minutes of any player on the Arsenal team. This helped the team win the FA WSL title. She signed a new deal with Arsenal on March 26, 2019.[20] Five days later, in one of Arsenal’s last games of the year, she scored the game-winning goal against Birmingham. This kept Arsenal one point ahead of second-placed Chelsea and at the top of the league table.

During the 2020–21 FA WSL season, she scored 5 goals and set up 12 others. Arsenal ended third, tied for first in the league in assists, and was named to the PFA Team of the Year. In December 2020, she played her 100th game for Arsenal in a 4-0 win over Everton. She helped set up Jen Beattie’s goal from the corner.

Later that month, she got into trouble with COVID-19 when she posted a picture of herself on a beach in Dubai, even though Tier 4 people in London were not allowed to leave the country. She said she had visited Dubai to meet with her agent about business. The FA did not take any action against her because of the dispute.

She signed a new long-term deal with Arsenal before the 2021–2022 FA WSL season.
