Club Career

Barcelona

On June 4, 2008, Cáceres transferred from Villarreal to Barcelona for a rumored transfer price of €16.5 million. The agreement had a 50 million euro buyback provision and was valid until June 2012. Due to injuries and tactical choices, he only played sporadically in his one season at the Camp Nou.

Loan to Juventus

Barcelona leased Cáceres to Juventus in Serie A on August 6th, with the Turin team having the option to make his stay permanent for €11 million plus €1 million in variables at the end of the season. The next day, he made his debut in a pre-season friendly against his previous team Villarreal, taking over at right-back for Jonathan Zebina at halftime.

Sevilla

On 30 August 2010, Cáceres returned to Spain and joined Sevilla on a season-long loan, with an option to purchase. He featured regularly for the Gregorio Manzano-led team, especially at right-back following the return of Abdoulaye Konko to Genoa in January 2011.
