Start of a job

Harder played for Team Viborg and IK Skovbakken in her home Denmark’s Elitedivisionen. In April 2010, Skovbakken hired Harder and her colleague Sofie Junge Pedersen as players because they had such great promise.

Linkopings FC

Harder picked the Swedish club Linkopings FC as her next destination because she wanted a new challenge and also because she wanted to stay in Scandinavia. In September 2013, she scored all four goals in Linkopings’ 4–1 win over Sunnan SK, which was about to be kicked out of the league.

In the 2015 Damallsvenskan season, Harder scored 17 goals in 22 games for Linkoping. He won many national awards, including rets Anfallare and rets Allsvenska Spelare, which mean “Forward of the Year” and “League Player of the Year,” respectively. At the annual awards gala, she shared the stage with male winner Zlatan Ibrahimovic and was called “hyper-talented” and “world-class” by Swedish national coach Pia Sundhage. 2015 Harder was also chosen as the Danish Football Player of the Year. In June 2016, Harder was one of 30 Linkoping people honored on a Wall of Fame.

In the 2016 Damallsvenskan season, Harder had even more success. He kept the League Player of the Year award. Harder’s agent said in November 2016 that she would leave Linkoping for a new challenge because the best women’s football teams now wanted her.

VfL Wolfsburg

In December 2016, it was reported that Harder had signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg starting in January 2017. Harder won the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal in his four years with the team. She was the league’s top scorer twice. She also played in two Champions League finals, both lost to Lyon (in 2018 and 2020).

Chelsea

On September 1, 2020, Harder signed a three-year deal with Chelsea for a fee that was said to be more than £250,000, which was a world record for a female football player. Harder was on the Denmark team that won their group at the first U-17 World Cup, which was held in New Zealand in 2008. In her first game for Denmark as a senior international player in October 2009, when she was only 16 years old, she scored three goals in a 15–0 win over Georgia. Since then, she has continued to score regularly for the Danish team.

Harder scored more hat-tricks in 2011 and 2013 against Austria and Armenia. She was put on the Denmark team for Euro 2013 by coach Kenneth Heiner-Mller. In qualifying, she had scored the most goals for her team with nine.

She took part in the Algarve Cup in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2015 but had to miss it in 2014 because of an illness. In a 1–1 draw with Serbia in October 2013, Harder got her 50th cap for Denmark. She scored the goal for Denmark in the game. Harder was named leader of the national team in March 2016.

In 2017, Denmark’s boss Nils Nielsen put her on the team to go to the Euro. She led the team to the final, where they lost 4–2 to the hosts, the Netherlands. She was second to Lieke Martens for the 2016–17 UEFA Women’s Player of the Year Award. She scored 66 goals in 129 games for the Denmark national team.

On September 16, 2021, she broke Merete Pedersen’s national record, which had stood for 12.5 years. This made her the top shooter for the Denmark national team. She scored eight goals in all ten qualifying games for the Euro 2022. She was picked to play for Denmark at the Euro 2022. She scored the only goal for Denmark, but the team lost in the group stage.

She was used four times in qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup and scored two goals.
