Who will win Premier League Golden Boot 2022/23
The Golden Boot has not yet been signed, sealed, and delivered to Erling Haaland, but it has been sent to him in a pre-paid package that is currently sitting in the post office.
As a member of a City team that is destined to win the Premier League top goal scorers for a second time, Haaland is the clear favorite to keep up his impressive play. The fact that the majority of his direct rivals will be preoccupied with Qatar 2022 means that the Norwegian titan will have plenty of time to relax, regain his strength, and get ready for the next round of competition. This will work to his advantage.
It is far too soon to completely eliminate Harry Kane from consideration at this point. We’re grasping at straws a little bit here, but he does have the second-best minutes-per-goal ratio of anyone in the league who has scored more than two goals so far, but we’re not sure how reliable that stat is. This is Haaland’s game from start to finish, barring an extended injury.
Given their strong starts to the season, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ivan Toney should each have their sights set on scoring 20 goals, but it will be challenging for them to keep their form going while playing for teams that are expected to fight against relegation.
Mohamed Salah, who has only scored six goals so far in the 2022/23 season, is the ultimate wildcard because he has won the Golden Boot three times. He is already 12 goals behind the leader, but if he gets going soon, he has the potential to amass a huge point total.
Premier League odds to win Golden Boot
Who did the sportsbooks think was the frontrunner for the top-scorer title in England at the start of the season? It was Haaland ahead of everyone else.
Previous winners Salah and Kane were considered to be in with a good shot, both ahead of their other star teammates Nunez (Liverpool) and Son (Tottenham).
Cristiano Ronaldo, who is still on the books at Man United but whose future at the club seems tenuous, clocked in with the seventh-best odds to be the scoring king in England.
The biggest snubs by the betting market might be Diogo Jota (40/1) and West Ham newcomer Gianluca Scamacca (40/1).
