Club Career

He started at Caen, where he made his professional debut. In June 2013, he was signed by Lorient for four seasons.

Lorient

On June 27, 2013, Guerreiro signed for Ligue 1 after signing a four-year contract with FC Lorient. His first appearance in the competition took place on August 10, when he played the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Lille OSC.

On November 1, 2014, Guerreiro scored his first goal for Lorient, opening the scoring against champions Paris Saint-Germain F.C. but in an eventual 2–1 loss. He finished the campaign with seven goals to help his team avoid relegation, including equalizing when they came from behind to defeat their former bosses 2-1 at the Stade du Moustoir.

Guerreiro opened the scoring in a Derby Breton on 24 October 2015, assisted by Majeed Waris in a 1–1 home draw against Stade Rennais FC.

Borussia Dortmund

On 16 June 2016, he was signed by Borussia Dortmund for four seasons.

International career

He received with surprise his call-up to the Portuguese Under-21 Football Team, in March 2013. He debuted for the Portuguese national team, on November 14, 2014, against Armenia, in a qualifying match for the 2016 European Championship.

He was one of 23 called up to participate in Euro 2016 by the Portuguese national team, which won the championship. As a result, on July 10, 2016, he was made a Commander of the Order of Merit. He was part of the tournament’s best 11, chosen by UEFA’s coaches.
