Vadstena
Vadstena-born Blackstenius joined the local club Vadstena GIF in 2002 at age 6. Blackstenius made her senior debut against BK Kenty in the Östergötland area Division 3, Sweden’s fifth tier of women’s football, on April 20, 2011. She started and scored twice as Vadstena fell 5–4. Blackstenius scored 21 goals in her rookie season. She led the league with 38 goals in 16 games the following season. Östergötland Player of the Year 2012.
Linköping
Blackstenius signed a three-year contract with top-flight Damallsvenskan club Linköping FC before the 2013 season. She made her Damallsvenskan debut on 17 April 2013 as a 68th-minute substitute in a 1–1 tie with Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC. On 28 May 2013, she scored her maiden top-flight goal in a 3–1 win over Malmö FF.
Blackstenius scored a hat-trick on her Svenska Cupen debut on 31 July 2013, beating Landsbro IF 13–0. Blackstenius was promoted late in the season after appearing as a substitute in 9 of the first 11 league games. She started all 11 league games and scored six goals in the final five as Linköping finished third.
Linköping reached the 2013–14 Swedish Cup final. Blackstenius substituted in the 62nd minute as they defeated Kristianstads DFF 2–1. Liverpool was Blackstenius’ first UEFA Women’s Champions League opponent in October 2014. Linköping advanced after winning 3–0 at home after losing 2–1. Blackstenius won Breakthrough Player of the Year at Fotbollsgalan 2015. 2016 Damallsvenskan champion Linköping. Blackstenius scored 19 league goals, second to teammate Pernille Harder.
Montpellier
Montpellier HSC signed Blackstenius for two-and-a-half years in January 2017. She scored the 81st-minute winner in her debut on 4 January 2017 against Paris Saint-Germain. She scored four goals in a 16–0 Coupe de France triumph over fourth-tier FC Domont on February 19, 2017.
Blackstenius scored seven goals in 11 league games after joining midway through the 2016–17 season, helping Montpellier finish second behind Olympique Lyon. Blackstenius rejoined Linköpings FC on 30 January 2019, signing a two-year contract. Her second Damallsvenskan debut was a 5–0 win over Växjö DFF. Blackstenius scored nine goals to finish fifth.
BK Häcken
Blackstenius joined Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC (later BK Häcken) before the 2020 season. The Swedish Football Association’s arbitration committee resolved a transfer dispute between Linköping and Göteborg, who declined to comment. Göteborg won Damallsvenskan 2020 in her first season.
Blackstenius scored the only goal in a 2020–21 Svenska Cupen semi-final triumph over FC Rosengård on 4 April 2021 and again in the final when BK Häcken defeated Eskilstuna United 3–0. Häcken finished second to Rosengård in 2021. Blackstenius topped the league in goals (17) and assists (8). She made the 20-player Ballon d’Or shortlist in November 2021. Blackstenius left the club when her 2021 contract expired.
Arsenal
Arsenal signed Blackstenius for free on 14 January 2022. Five days later, she replaced Vivianne Miedema in the League Cup quarter-finals against Manchester United.
