The Sydney Football Stadium, which is also called Allianz Stadium, is a football stadium in Sydney, Australia. It is in Moore Park. Built as a replacement for the original Sydney Football Stadium, it officially opened on August 28, 2022.
The ground’s main tenants are the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs of the National Rugby League, the New South Wales Waratahs of Super Rugby, and Sydney. FC from the Men’s A-League. It will be used as one of the venues for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the 2027 Rugby World Cup, and a regional venue for the 2032 Summer Olympics.

Sydney Football Stadium History
In October 2018, the New South Wales government unveiled plans for the new stadium to replace the original Sydney Football Stadium. In December 2018, Lendlease was appointed to build the stadium. Construction was initially scheduled to begin in 2019 with a completion date of early 2022. In July 2019, the government canceled the construction portion of the Lendlease contract with John Holland and Multiplex was shortlisted to bid on the contract.
In December 2019, John Holland was awarded a $735 million construction contract, representing a $99 million increase on the original budget for demolition and construction. The stadium was completed and opened on 28 August 2022. The total construction cost of this stadium was A$828 million. Guy Sebastian performed on the opening night on August 28, 2022 after a free open day for the community. Critically acclaimed, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Bruno Mars performed 2 exclusive concerts on October 14 and 15, 2022.
Construction
Demolition of the previous stadium began on 8 March 2019. Opposition from local interest groups caused them to try to prevent or delay demolition through legal action ahead of the 2019 New South Wales state election. After a short delay ordered by a court just before the election, the existing government was returned and demolition of the old stadium continued until completion on December 18, 2019 at a cost of $40 million.
Construction of the stadium began on April 15, 2020 by construction giant John Holland Group, with major piling and excavation work beginning the following month. By the end of 2020, work on the structure had begun on all four sides of the new headquarters, including the main elevator cores and placement work on the precast elements that would make up the main seating area. Following this, major formwork contractors began allowing slabs to be poured for the main rear of the house areas. The first seats were installed on October 27, 2021.
