Barcelona’s Sergio Agüero to announce retirement with a heart condition
Barcelona’s Sergio Agüero announce retirement from football on Wednesday with a heart condition, six months after Manchester City’s top scorer joined Barcelona as a free agent.
The 33-year-old experienced chest problems and breathing difficulties during the first half of Barcelona’s 1-1 draw with Alavés on October 30. Agüero fell to the Camp Nou grass clutching his chest and was treated for several minutes before being able to leave. He was admitted to the hospital for cardiology tests, and the club later indicated that he would be away for three months and would undergo a “diagnostic and therapeutic process.”

Agüero, however, cannot resume a brilliant 18-year career that began for the Argentine in Independiente, when he became the youngest rookie in the highest category in his country. After three years, the forward moved to Atlético de Madrid in 2006, before joining City in the summer of 2011.
His first season at the club ended in the highlight of his career when his 94th-minute win against Queens Park Rangers snatched the top spot from Manchester United and gave City a first title since 1968. A decade at the club ended with a record 260 goals in 390 appearances, with 184 goals scored in the Premier League, a record for a team. His last appearance at City ended with the heartache of a Champions League final loss to Chelsea, and another low point was the 2014 World Cup final loss to Germany.
In five games with Barcelona, Agüero scored a goal. He scored 41 goals in 101 games for Argentina.
