Bernardo Mota Veiga de Carvalho e Silva (born August 10, 1994), known as Bernardo Silva or simply Bernardo, is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for Manchester City in the Premier League and for the Portugal national team.

Born in Lisbon, Silva went through the Benfica youth academy. He started playing for Benfica B in 2013 and was promoted to the first team in 2014, playing a few minutes with the latter. He was on loan at Ligue 1 side Monaco for the 2014-15 season, and Les Monégasques moved on permanently in the winter of 2015. Club Career


In 2002 he arrived at Benfica for the base categories of the team, where he stayed until 2013, the year he gained prominence by winning the Portuguese Junior Championship. In the same year, in August, he moved up a category to defend Benfica B and made his debut against Trofense, which ended in a 0-0 tie.

On October 19, 2013, at the age of 19, he made his debut for Benfica in a match valid for the Portuguese Cup against Clube Desportivo de Cinfães, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Encarnados. Playing for Benfica B, he got a lot of prominence in the Segunda Liga (the second division of the Portuguese Championship), a highlight that made him elected the best player in the competition.
