Charlton Athletic Home Stadium
The club’s first ground was Siemens Meadow (1905-1907), a rugged piece of land next to the River Thames. This was eclipsed by the Siemens Brothers Telegraph Works. Woolwich Common (1907–1908), Pound Park (1908–1913), and Angerstein Lane (1913–1915) then followed. After the end of World War I, a chalk quarry known as the Swamps was identified as Charlton’s new ground, and work began in the summer of 1919 to create a level playing area and remove rubble from the site. The first match on this site, now known as The Valley club’s current ground, was in September 1919.
