Club Career

Sunderland

Jordan Henderson was signed by Sunderland on 1 July 2008 when he joined Sunderland. The date of his Premier League debut came on November 8, 2008, when he came in for Sunderland’s 5-1 loss against Chelsea.

Loan to Coventry City

On January 9, 2009, Jordan Henderson was loaned for a month by Coventry City of the Football League Championship (English Second Division). He made his debut in a 2-1 defeat against Derby County. On the 23rd of February 2009, an extension to his loan to the end of the current season was made public.

During his loan period during which he broke the 5th metatarsal bone of his foot. He returned to Sunderland on April 8th, 2009. The 2009-10 campaign Henderson was not a success for Sunderland and only played a few fixtures during the Premier League. Henderson scored his first score in the league against Birmingham City in the third round of the League Cup.

On November 11, 2010, Henderson was left out of England’s U21 squad in their friendly against Germany Instead, Jordan Henderson received his first call-up to the full-time England squad on the 17th of November 2010 for their friendly game against France. Henderson made his debut in the game, starting at the beginning of the game in the central midfield with Steven Gerrard.
