How good is Julian Alvarez?

Any player compared to Messi will have something on them, but in terms of how he actually plays, the main reason Alvarez is compared to Messi is the fact that they are both Argentine.

While Messi made a name for himself as a fickle winger, Alvarez plays better in the middle as a center forward.

He is probably a harder worker than Messi was at his age, as he constantly puts pressure on defenders, using his resistance and aggression.

Like Messi, Álvarez possesses a beautiful control of the ball and a style that allows him to have confidence in the ball in the last third.

He has some lovely acceleration to take him past his opponents, while he’s also stronger than he looks.

Álvarez joined River from Atlético Calchín in 2016, and before that, he had a test with Real Madrid in which he was impressed.

Although he was impressed with the white of Los Blancos, Real Madrid could not sign him at that time due to age restrictions.
