Kerala Blasters Home Stadium
Our Home, Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium, popularly known as Kaloor Stadium, located in Kochi, Kerala, is one of the largest and most modern venues in India. Completed in 1996 ahead of schedule by the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA), the stadium has a unique shape due to the three-tiered stands, contemporary sloping roof structure, modern turf, four lanes from the south side of the stadium, and massive floodlight masts running through the roof.
The 2kW floodlight towers are one of the most innovative aspects of the stadium, which when fully lit can provide lighting levels for an HD television broadcast. The home of the Yellow Sea is widely touted as one of the loudest football stadiums in the world for the record crowds the stadium holds and its distinctive architecture.
Originally built as a football stadium, it has also been used as a cricket ground by both the Kerala cricket team and the national team. The Nehru Cup International Football Tournament was the first tournament to be held at Kaloor Stadium in 1997.
It was also one of the six venues for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup held in India. The home of the 2-time ISL finalists was also awarded ‘The Best Pitch’ in 2018-19, due to high-quality maintenance of its natural grass.
