Kerolin Nicoli Israel Ferraz Club Career
Kerolin was one of several talented young football players who came out of the youth program of Valinhos Futebol Clube, a women’s team led by Ana Lucia Goncalves and run by the local government’s sports and leisure department. Valinhos made a deal with Guarani FC in January 2016 to play as Guarani/Valinhos in the 2016 Campeonato Paulista de Futebol Feminino.
When Associaco Atlética Ponte Preta chose to start a women’s team in 2017, they took over the Valinhos club. One of the players they took over was 17-year-old Kerolin. She was chosen as the best player in the 2017 Campeonato Paulista because she scored ten goals in 21 games for Ponte Preta, which made it to the semifinals.
Then, in October 2017, she was sent on loan to Corinthians/Audax to help them win the Copa Libertadores Femenina. After the final game at Estadio Arsenio Erico in Asunción ended in a 0-0 tie, she scored the winning goal in a penalty shootout against Colo-Colo.
In 2018, she scored 14 goals in 35 games for Ponte Preta. At the end of the season, she was named Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol Feminino “Revelaco,” which means “Revelation.” It was said that Kerolin’s regularly good play for Ponte Preta and the youth national teams made her a transfer target for other Brazilian and professional clubs in France and China.
Kerolin had helped a team composed of Corinthians and Audax win the 2017 Copa Libertadores. That team broke up when Corinthians left the partnership and made their women’s team. Audax had a spot in the 2018 Copa Libertadores Femenina but didn’t have a team. Valinhos, playing for Ponte Preta in local games, made a deal to play for Audax in the Copa Libertadores. Carolina beat Pearol 4–0, but Audax didn’t leave the group stage.
In December 2018, Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras immediately needed a women’s team. If they didn’t, they risked being kicked out of the lucrative Copa Libertadores for men because CONMEBOL rules said all teams had to have women’s teams. Palmeiras agreed to pay the salaries of the Valinhos players and staff as part of a partnership. The players and staff would use the Palmeiras name but still play and train in Valinhos.
Kerolin decided to move to Palmeiras in January 2019. She signed a one-year contract and reunited with her old coach, Ana Lcia Gonçalves. The month after that, it was reported that Kerolin had failed a drug test after playing for Audax in a 2018 Copa Libertadores Femenina game. GW1516 was found in Kerolin’s sample. CONMEBOL kept her on a temporary suspension when Palmeiras’ coach, Goncalves, was fired in July 2019 on suspicion of being involved in doping cases at clubs she had worked at and serving as a sports agent for the players she was in charge of.
Madrid
After her ban was over in April 2021, Kerolin moved to Madrid CFF. She joined a club in Spain’s Primera División with a few other Brazilian players and thanked God for the chance to get her football career back on track.
The Courage of North Carolina
Kerolin signed a three-year contract with the North Carolina Courage in January 2022. On October 26, 2022, she was named to the second team of the NWSL Best XI.[21] She got her first NWSL hat-trick in a 5–0 win over Chicago Red Stars on June 10, 2023.[
International career
Kerolin was one of four Guarani/Valinhos players that the Brazil women’s national under-17 football team called up for the 2016 South American U-17 Women’s Championship. She stayed on the team that attended Jordan for the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. In 2018, Kerolin played three games for Brazil’s under-20 women’s football team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in France. In those three games, she scored two goals.
In September 2018, for a friendly game against England at Meadow Lane, Nottingham, Vado called Kerolin for the first time for the senior Brazil women’s national football team.[26] She got her first cap in the game, which Brazil lost 1-0. She replaced Debinha in the 56th minute, but Brazil still lost.
Formiga, a veteran teammate, said of her after she made it to the senior national team: “Kerolin has a huge future.” She is very smart and doesn’t have any fear. She can go as far as she wants if she keeps her feet on the ground. She decides.”
Kerolin was not allowed to play at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup because she had failed drug tests and was still waiting for CONMEBOL’s final decision on her football suspension.
