Football Career
Here, we take a closer look at her Football career so far.
Ludmila da Silva Club Career
Ludmila was a high school track winner and didn’t start organized football until she was 15. A spy from CA Juventus spotted her and went on to play as a fast and strong winger for So Caetano, Portuguesa, Rio Preto, and So José.
In August 2017, Ludmila agreed to move to Atlético Madrid, Spain’s Primera División club. She was called “Road Runner” because she ran so fast. Atlético gave her a one-year contract extension in December 2017 after she did well and scored six goals in the first half of the season.
In September 2018, Ludmila set up the first goal and scored the second to get Atlético past Manchester City in the Round of 32 of the 2018–19 UEFA Women’s Champions League. This put Atlético in the Round of 16 and eliminated Manchester City from the competition.
International career
Ludmila played for the under-20 Brazilian team at the 2014 South American U-20 Women’s Championship in Uruguay, where she scored three goals. She got a penalty kick, which Andressa scored, and then she scored the second goal in the final win over Paraguay, which was 2-0.
Ludmila was called to the Brazil senior team for the first time in June 2017 for a friendly game against Germany in Sandhausen. She allegedly didn’t have a passport, so she had to get one quickly to answer the call. She said that Emily Lima, her boss at Juventus and So José and now the national coach, was like a mother to her.
Brazil sent a weaker team to Germany because the game was outside of FIFA’s international dates, and some of their normal players couldn’t make it. Ludmila scored on her first game after German goalie Almuth Schult made a mistake. However, Brazil lost 3–1.
In the past, when Ludmila was training with the national team, she was hurt when a team member said she was good at running but didn’t know when to pass the ball. Ludmila scored the only goal in a training game against Canada on September 4, 2018, in Ottawa. The game was not open to the public.
