The Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi is a stadium in Verona, Italy. It is the home of Serie A side Hellas Verona and was also the home of Chievo Verona until 2021. It also hosts Bardolino Verona’s Women’s Champions League matches, some youth team matches, rugby matches, athletics events, and occasionally even musical concerts. With 39,211 total seats, of which only 31,045 are approved, it is the eighth-largest stadium in Italy by capacity. The stadium is named after the historic benefactor of Veronese sports, Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Marcantonio Bentegodi Stadium History
Opened as a state-of-the-art facility and one of Italy’s best venues in 1963, the stadium seemed overkill for a team (Hellas) that had spent the better part of the previous 35 years in Serie B. For 1990 FIFA World Cup renovations included an additional level and roof to cover all sections, improved visibility, public transport links, an urban motorway connecting the city center to the stadium, and a motorway exit and services Verona Nord.
A building-integrated photovoltaic system was installed on the rooftop during a major renovation. The photovoltaic system has a nominal power of 999.5 kW. 13,321 “FS 275” thin-film cadmium telluride (CdTe) solar modules from First Solar Inc. have been mounted on ISCOM SpA’s Riverclack aluminum mounting system. The solar modules are connected to 141 Sunny Mini Central SMC 7000HV inverters of SMA Solar Technology AG. The system was commissioned at the end of November 2009.
Chievo’s rise on the Serie A stage in recent years has divided the city into two sets of arch-rival fans, both very loyal to their respective causes, these days with Chievo constantly fighting to survive relegation in Serie A. , and Hellas Verona returning to the top flight after a four-year stint in the third division, having won a scudetto in 1985.
Despite playing two divisions below Chievo and missing out on the traveling supporters of the big Serie A teams, Hellas Verona, the city’s traditionally biggest team, managed to maintain a higher average attendance than its rival during the 2009-10 season. In the 2013-14 season, Virtus Verona also played for Bentegodi.
