Sky Blue FC
Near the end of the 2014 NWSL season, Nadim joined Sky Blue FC. In six games she played, she scored seven goals and set up three others. She was named NWSL Player of the Month on August 14 and Player of the Week on August 19. On February 16, 2015, Sky Blue stated that they had signed Nadim to play for them again in 2015.
The Portland Thorns FC
Nadim was sent to the Portland Thorns FC on January 14, 2016. She was the team’s top scorer in 2016, with nine goals in 20 games as a striker. This helped the team win the 2016 NWSL Shield. She helped the team finish second in the league in 2017 and win the NWSL Championship game.
City of Manchester
On September 28, 2017, Nadim signed with Manchester City of the FA Women’s Super League for the 2018 season. She joined the team in January 2018 and debuted in a 5–2 win over Reading on January 7, 2018. After six minutes on the pitch, she scored her first goal for the team. Then, when Manchester City scored their second goal 26 minutes later, she helped set it up. In her second game with the team, she scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Chelsea in the Continental Tyres Cup semi-final.
On July 26, 2018, while on a tour of the US with Manchester City, the BBC claimed that Nadim had asked to leave the club, saying that she had never felt at home there and wanted to leave. On December 19, 2018, Manchester City said that Nadim would be leaving the team and that her contract would end on January 1, 2019, letting her join another team.
Paris Saint-Germain
Nadim joined Paris Saint-Germain on January 3, 2019.
After a good first season with Paris Saint-Germain, Nadim got her contract renewed on July 9, 2019. She was later given the captain’s jersey and made the team’s vice-captain for the 2019–20 season. In 16 league and cup games, she scored 13 goals and set up 13 more.
Racing Louisville FC
Nadim signed with Racing Louisville FC on June 9, 2021. This was four years after she left Portland Thorns FC for Manchester City and went to play for Manchester City.
In September 2021, when the NWSL was reeling from abuse scandals, she accused the management of NJ/NY Gotham FC of forging her signature on a contract extension so they could sell her rights to Portland in January 2016. She also said that league workers tried to force her to have surgery for her season-ending ACL injury in the U.S. instead of abroad. She said, “If something went wrong with the surgery outside of the U.S., they might think about taking action against me.”
International career
Danish law says that Nadim couldn’t apply for citizenship until he turned 18 in 2006. When she finally got her citizenship in 2008, FIFA rules said she couldn’t play for Denmark because she hadn’t lived there for five years after turning 18. After the Danish Football Association (DBU) challenged the decision, FIFA’s legal staff made an exception for Nadim.
Nadim joined the Denmark national team right away. Her first game was in the 2009 Algarve Cup, where the United States beat Denmark 2-0. By doing this, she became the first person born outside of Denmark to play for a senior national football team in Denmark. At the 2009 UEFA European Championship in Finland, she played in all three of Denmark’s games.
She is part of Denmark’s team for the 2013 UEFA European Championship, which boss Kenneth Heiner-Mller will lead. Nadim came on as a replacement in Denmark’s first group game, played in Sweden, and ended in a 1–1 draw.
She was a big part of Denmark’s success in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 tournament. She scored the goal that tied the game in Denmark’s eventual 2–1 win over tournament favourites Germany in the knockout rounds, and she scored the goal that put Denmark ahead in the final, which they lost to the host Netherlands 4–2.
Denmark had to win on the road against Italy on October 27, 2020, to qualify for the UEFA European Championship 2022. Nadim was named player of the match after scoring two key goals in Denmark’s 3–1 win over Italy in Florence. The two goals made sure that Denmark would be in the Euros.
