Born in Sintra, a Municipality of Lisbon, Nuno started at Despertar, a club located in Casal de Cambra, led by coach Bruno Botelho. He quickly stood out for the small club, and was already noticed by the big 3 in Portugal: Porto, Benfica and Sporting.
