Club Career
Early career
Zinchenko was born in Radomyshl in Zhytomyr Oblast. Zinchenko is a youth player who graduated from Youth Sportive School Karpatiya in Radomyshl, Zhytomyr Oblast (with his first coach Serhiy Boretskyi), FC Monolit Illichivsk, and Shakhtar Donetsk. He was the youth team’s captain. He scored a goal against Manchester United on the 9th of December 2013.
Due to the conflict in Donbas, he moved to Russia with his parents. Shakhtar Donetsk wanted to see him back, even though he offered no playing time. However, he didn’t return due to security concerns. He was in Moscow’s amateur leagues for five to six months.
Rubin Kazan then signed him up for training, but Zinchenko was still under Shakhtar’s contract. Rubin could be banned from signing him. He signed a contract with Ufa on 12 February 2015. On 20 March 2015, he made his Russian Premier League debut with Ufa in a match against FC Krasnodar. He scored his first goal against FC Rostov on 25 July 2015.
Manchester City
Zinchenko’s first appearance in 2018-19 season was in a 3-0 away victory against Oxford United in EFL Cup. Due to injuries to Mendy & Delph, he also made his league debut in a 2-0 win at home against Brighton & Hove Albion.
He signed a new contract in June 2019 with the club to stay with them until 2024. Zinchenko underwent knee surgery in Barcelona on 25 October 2019. Pep Guardiola, Manchester City‘s coach, said that recovery would take between 5 and 6 weeks.

On 12 October 2015, he made his international debut playing in a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier against Spain. Zinchenko scored his international debut in a friendly against Romania in Turin on October 12, 2015. Ukraine won the match 4-3. Zinchenko also became the youngest player in Ukraine to score an international goal, at 19 years old and 165 days. This beats the record set by Andriy Shevchenko in 1996. Zinchenko was part of Ukraine’s Euro 2016 squad.
He was substituted for Viktor Kovalenko during both matches against Germany and Northern Ireland. Ukraine was eliminated after Ukraine failed to score.
